Urgent help is needed to save children’s lives
UNICEF is delivering life-saving humanitarian aid to children in the world’s most dangerous places – from Gaza to Sudan. Girls and boys are facing hunger, disease and trauma at levels not seen in decades. Their lives and futures cannot wait.
Sudan: the epicentre of child suffering
- The city of Al-Fasher has been under siege for over 500 days – 260,000 civilians, including 130,000 children, are trapped without access to aid.
- Over 600,000 people displaced from Al-Fasher and surrounding camps, half of them children.
- 6,000 children with severe acute malnutrition are without treatment due to blockades and depleted supplies.
With partners, UNICEF has:
- Provided safe drinking water to 9.8 million people
- Screened 6.7 million children for malnutrition
- Delivered lifesaving treatment to 422,000 children
Sudan’s children are hungry, displaced and without protection – urgent aid is their only hope of survival.
Gaza: every child at risk
- 320,000 children under five at risk of acute malnutrition.
- Families living without food, clean water, or safe shelter.
Despite the extremely dangerous conditions, UNICEF teams are on the ground every day to:
- Provide emergency therapeutic food and medical care for malnourished children
- Distribute food and supplements to tens of thousands of children
- Deliver clean drinking water to 1.5 million people
- Provide psychosocial support
- Supply medicines, vaccines and sanitation kits to families in the hardest-hit areas
