ABOUT US

Who we are and how
we help children

We believe that every child deserves equal and fair opportunities to grow, learn and develop. That is why we have been tirelessly working for more than 70 years to promote and protect children's rights and well-being, with a special focus on children from the most vulnerable groups.

Who are we?

UNICEF is the United Nations Children's Fund, which began its work on December 11, 1946

UNICEF operates in more than 190 countries around the world

UNICEF is funded entirely by voluntary contributions from individuals, states and governments, foundations and companies

UNICEF's work is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has been signed and ratified by almost all United Nations Member States

UNICEF works with states and governments, local communities, civil society organizations and independent institutions, as well as the private sector and the media to ensure systematic support for children.

UNICEF provides children around the world with clean water, food, medicine, vaccines, education and protection from violence

What do we do?

Our organisation supports reform processes in the Republic of Serbia to enable every child to exercise their rights in the areas of early childhood development, education and child protection, while creating conditions for the development and empowerment of adolescents and young people. We cooperate closely with decision-makers and policymakers, while also serving as an independent voice for children and young people. In this role, we highlight situations where children’s rights are being violated and propose solutions that can be implemented at the national level, through various campaigns, made possible thanks to donations to UNICEF in Serbia.

Who do we cooperate with?

To protect children’s rights and promote their well-being, we cooperate closely with the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the National Assembly, the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, civil society organisations, independent human rights institutions, academic institutions, local communities, families, children and young people.

Who else is our important partner?

We have also established partnerships with the private sector - multinational corporations, national companies and small enterprises, bringing together knowledge, resources and innovations to support our work.

How can you help?

Long-term support helps ensure that assistance reaches where it is needed most and that changes are sustainable. By joining the UNICEF Blue Club in Serbia as an individual, you have the opportunity to provide regular and long-term support for UNICEF and become part of a community that creates lasting changes.
