NO CHILD SHOULD BE HUNGRY

The worst hunger and poverty crisis of this generation. During the upcoming holidays, let us spread our kind-heartedness and help the children that are facing the horrors of hunger and poverty.

The New Year and Christmas holidays are around the corner, ushering in a season of joyful festivities and giving to our loved ones, as we get together for holiday feasts to celebrate the blissful moments. This is the time to show kindness to the people we hold dear, but it is just as important to show it to those who are deprived of the opportunities to feel the New Year’s bliss.

NO CHILD SHOULD GO HUNGRY

Climate change, the impact of COVID-19, the energy crisis, the war in Europe and many armed conflicts have triggered the worst hunger and poverty crisis in this generation. As we exchange Christmas gifts with our loved ones, let us remember the children whose lives could be saved by our gifts, or whose suffering from poverty they could alleviate.

Show kindness to children in this crisis

The lives of millions of children in Somalia, Ethiopia, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Haiti are at risk due to famine.
A little girl named Bento is one of millions of affected children who are desperately in need of life-saving therapeutic food to survive.

One in twelve children in Serbia are unable to meet their basic needs, while a third of the country’s children are at risk of poverty.

The crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has hit hardest those who are the most vulnerable.

Your donation for children’s well-being is priceless at this moment!

Help us do more ahead of the holiday season, so that no child should go hungry.

The Zajić family is one of many families that are facing poverty, especially in southern and eastern Serbia.

The family consists of the single mother, Dragana Zajić, and her four children.

The Zajić family has little to live on. Child allowance is the only source of their meagre income. At the same time, the costs of raising schoolchildren and a baby are high. Thanks to the UNICEF support, we helped the Zajić family survive last winter. Humanitarian cash transfers enabled them to cover the costs of basic needs.

Your donation will be used to assist the most vulnerable children affected by the hunger crisis, as well as to support the schemes for children in Serbia. Your solidarity with the most underprivileged children in the world and in Serbia is an act of kindness that makes this world more resilient to the current crises.

The worst hunger crisis of this generation

The long-term impact of COVID-19, the global economic disruptions and instability, including inflation and rising food and energy prices, have dealt a devastating blow to the lives and well-being of millions of the most vulnerable children around the world.

The number of children who are facing the deadliest form of malnutrition has increased by more than 15% over the past five months.

The UNICEF teams have not witnessed such a critical situation in years. The spiking prices of food and energy have also increased the pressure on families and organizations like ours, which have been doing everything in their power to reach the most vulnerable children. The lack of essential, life-saving therapeutic food puts the lives of thousands of children in jeopardy.

Your New Year gift to children helps us protect them against hunger and poverty.

  • Your donation helps UNICEF to provide life-saving food, safe drinking water and urgent medical care for all children who desperately need them, as well as for those who are facing conflicts and other emergencies.
  • UNICEF and its partners are committed to building long-term resilience in communities, in order to help them recover and prepare for any future disasters.

Your donation will be distributed equally to help Serbian children and children affected by the unprecedented hunger crisis.
