Misconceptions about online donations

Data misuse

We understand how important it is to protect personal information. UNICEF implements strict protocols and encryption to fully secure your data – from card numbers to personal details.

Online payment security

All financial transactions are conducted through certified payment systems, ensuring the highest level of security for your payments.

How are your donations used?

Every donation is carefully allocated to programs that directly improve the lives of children and youth. Whether it is purchasing computers and tablets for students, providing medical equipment, or supporting families, your help reaches those who need it most.

How your donations change the lives of children in Serbia

UNICEF’s actions in Serbia are focused on:

  • early development and health – helping children and their families get the care they need for healthy growth and development from day one;
  • quality and inclusive education – working with schools and families to ensure every child has access to inclusive, quality education;
  • child protection – strengthening systems that safeguard children from violence and neglect;
  • mental health of adolescents and youth – offering young people support when they need it most.

Your donation is not just financial support; it is an investment in the future of our children and community.

Meet the children and families we’ve helped

Supported by a visiting nurse – An emotional story about the power of motherhood and trust

In a small town near Vršac, Miljana decided to raise her daughter on her own, even before she was born. Although she faced stressful situations, visiting nurse Jasmina encouraged her:

“When I met Miljana, she had already decided to be a single mother... It’s very important.... to make sure she feels supported.”

Miljana emphasizes how much she appreciated that support:

"I had firmly decided... that I would breastfeed, but....I thought that I wouldn’t be able to... However, with Jasmina’s help, we managed to achieve so much!"

The situation was similar for the Jovanov family – the visiting nurse engaged with them, provided them with valuable advice and instilled self-confidence during their first pregnancy. Borivoje, the father, says:

“I didn’t know how to hold my child… Later, I gained confidence.”

These kinds of stories have been made possible thanks to your donations; they show that children need more than just food and clothing – they need confident parents who receive the support they need to guide their children through their first steps.

Nemanja’s story – Togetherness, inclusion and overcoming obstacles

Fifteen-year-old Nemanja from Raška, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, demonstrates how inclusive education and proper support from friends, teachers and family can enable every child to learn and go to school with their peers.

“We’re all equal, it doesn't matter if someone can walk or not. We all help each other, and we’re all friends... When I need something, they’re all there to help me. For example, when there’s something that I don’t understand, they’re also there to help me”, Nemanja says.

“I see that he is cheerful, that he is accepted, when he comes home, he says that he had a good time with his friends. It's very important for me as a mother that he doesn't fall behind, that he doesn't miss out, and that he’s always included with other children, that he receives support from his assistant, fellow students, friends and teachers. He is an excellent student who studies regularly. I'm happy with his development considering his challenges and needs”, says Nemanja’s mother Danijela.

Through the joint effort of all employees, the intersectoral committee and the family, the school strives to provide adapted teaching, assistants and accessible entrances, classrooms and toilets. For Nemanja and other children with disabilities, this contributes not only to quality inclusive education but also a sense of belonging.

“In this school, everyone is equal, every student has the same rights and receives equal treatment... They often participate in our school events... without any discrimination”, says Marija Trikoš, the school principal.

“Every child has the right to education..., we should all be guided by that principle”, says Srdjan Vasiljević from Raška Municipal Administration.

Nemanja’s classmates say that, through their friendship with him, they’ve realized that although we may be different, we are actually all equal – ready to help each other and grow together.

“We first met at the beginning of the school year, and we’ve been best friends ever since. Being friends with Nemanja has taught me that, despite our differences, we’re all equal”, says Nemanja’s friend Bogdan. .

With the help of kind-hearted people, UNICEF invests every day in initiatives that are not just “projects” on paper, but real support and hope for families and children across Serbia. Whether we support visiting nurses in giving babies and parents a safe start, or help children like Nemanja attend school with their peers, these programs lead to deep and lasting changes. Every donation you make helps us create an environment where every child grows up surrounded by care, understanding and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The importance of regular monthly donations

A one-time donation is valuable, but monthly donations enable UNICEF to plan its programs confidently and implement them over the long term. Even smaller amounts, when given regularly, significantly contribute to the sustainability of our programs.

Join us in making a tangible difference

Imagine a child who is able for the first time, thanks to your donation, to attend school on equal terms with others, or a family that receives hygiene kits, textbooks and clothing after a flood. This kind of help restores their hope and dignity. Your online donation is not just a number – it becomes support, a smile and a new outlook for children going through difficult times.

Join a community that believes that only through joint efforts can we create an environment where every child feels loved, protected and aware of their worth. Help us build a future where no child is left behind. Every step we take today – every donation, every gesture of support – changes a life and opens the door to a happier childhood.

Be part of the change! With online donations to UNICEF, together we can secure a better future for every child. Donate now.
